When you are feeling stressed, remember: Moses started out as a basket case, and the Lord made something of him anyway! We have now been a year and a half without a permanent minister and some folks have expressed anxiety because of this. But we have been fortunate to have had and still do have excellent interim ministers who have guided our way through this period and have given us new insights and experiences.
Sometimes we have not had a full slate of minister office hours but it is important to remember that God's office hours are 24/7. He is looking out for us and also working with our PNC committee to find the right permanent leader for our congregation. Many thanks to those in the congregation that have volunteered to fill in when help is needed.
One of the exciting challenges for us and for our future new minister will be to plan for our church's 200 year anniversary in 2018, and there are several projects already started. The session has approved the commissioning of a special new hymn and research is underway to document the life of John McGee who built our church. Plans are underway to make a special anniversary quilt and the ideas of buying new choir gowns and new hymn books for the anniversary are being explored.
But what we really need is for you to get involved, to envision what a great opportunity this can be for our church and for demonstrating God's love in our community. We need you to create more ideas for projects in and outside the church and to volunteer your time and talents. We will soon be putting a team together to coordinate all the activity and to select a date for a special anniversary service. Contact any elder or the church secretary to get onboard.
